RESCUE OF MISS ELLIS.
ROYAL RECOGNITION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received April 28, 12.45 p.m.). LONDON, April 26. The King and Queen have sent the following message to the Viceroy : “ We learned with the deepest interest admiration of Mis Starr’s service in the rescue of Miss Ellis We share the feeling of horror which the brutal crime in Kohat gave rise to, but we are greatly relieved to know that Mrs Starr’s heroic endeavour was crowned with success, and thej-earless -devotion with which she carried through her task will long be an encouragement and inspiration.” The King has awarded Mrs Starr the Ivaiser-i-Himl medal.
