THE RULES OF BOWLS.
TOO MANY BREACHES. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 11. At the meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre, considerable attention war given to breaches of the rules. Instances were given where the rules had frequently been broken. At the championship tournament in Auckland, at the instance of the principal umpire, a recommendation was made to the Dominion Council, not without opposition, that a side line should be painted on the mats, it was stated .that* many players delivered bowls without a foot on the mat. The practice of following bowls up was also denounced. It was said that as much a forty minutes were added to the length of a game through this fault. The council was recommended to declare such bowls dead.
