EARL HAIG’S TRIBUTE.

I am proud to state niv deep and sincere admiration for Briti-h fighting men, who, by their splendid and unstinted sacrifice. had brought ilie schemes of their enemies to nought. No one could equal the British soldier to - his great courage displayed in the war. By their gallant deeds they have built up a reputation which is worthy of emulation by future generations. T am proud to have commanded them, and l was delighted to find in them qualities so high and noble and so line a spirit, which is still to be found in all ranks and classes of our fellowcountrymen.- Earl Haig, at Drymen.
