DANGER OF FLOOD.
WAIMAKARIRI AND CITY. "Fault of Government that city is unprotected. In case of flood iir the "Waimakariri consider Government liable for damage.” This was the teiegran* sent yesterday to the Minister of Public Works by an informal meeting of the memoers of the South Waimakariri River Board, which went out of office on April 1. The meeting expressed the opinion that the Government was Vrong in putting the old hoard out of notion before the Waimakariri Trust, which was to control both banks of the river, was constituted. The work that the old board had taken fifty years to do wr; - practically u.vless at present because if a big flood came there was nobo.lv empowered to take charge of the protective works.
