GIFT AND- COIN AFTERNOON

A successful gift and coin afternoon and evening was held at Mrs Burke A residence, The Esplanade, Sumner, yesterday for the purpose of gathering articles for Miss Enwright’s stall at the Nazareth garden party to be held this afternoon. Musical items were contributed by Miss Dorothy Nottingham and musical monologues were given by Miss Katie O’Connor, Mrs J. J. Ardagii being encored for both her recitations. Pianoforte solos were played by Miss Monica Hennessy and Miss Katie Cassidy. Various gifts were handed in and a satisfactory amount of money was collected. Valuable help was given by Mrs Burke, who did all in her power to make the function the success it was. During the evening an enjovable concert was given, the following contributing items :—Pianoforte solo. Miss Madelene Kennedy; song, “ Onaway. Awake, Beloved.” Air Heatley: song. “ ’Tis the Day,” Airs F. C. Cot her: musical monologue. Miss Katie O'Connor. Amongst .those present wore Airs Burke, who wore a very becoming frock of navy striped silk foulard, with handsomely headed georgette sleeves and vest, the skirt having loose side paneus lined with white silk foulard : Mrs Hanna.
