(Per Press Association* ) WET i TNG TO N . March 9. The Newlands case was continued today, when, further evidence relevant to the murder charge was taken. Hugo Lupi stated that the young woman Lester, who lie had met previously. came to live with him and his wife at Island Bay in June. 1922. Becoming aware of her condition, lie informed Cooper, who said: ‘‘Lester had better come to my place, where she will be out of the way and out of sight.” Witness never saw the child, and never knew where it was born. V hen Cooper, at the police station, made a. statement that he handed the baby to him (Lupi) he denied it. because it was n lie right through.
