Tile new post office building in Hereford Street is now practically completed as far as the actual building is concerned, but a large number of fittings have still to he put in. These fittings include the apparatus for the telephone exchange, which is to be housed there, telegraph instruments and so forth. These will take some time to fit up and it is not known when the building will be ready for occupation. The Dominion conference of the Workers’ Educational Association will be held in the Trades Hall, Christchurch, on January 24. It had been decided previously to hold the conference in Wellington, but as so many members were unable to go to that centre, a change of venue was agreed upon.
