RAINFALL. Sixty-five points of rain fell at Lyttelton during Monday and Tuesday" SCHOOL MATTERS. Mr A. Peverill. member of the Education Board ; Mr Riley, architect to the board; Mr AY. H. AVinsor; Mr J. M’Combs; Mr W. T. Lester, Mayor of Lyttelton : Mr AY. J. Carson, chairman of the Lyttelton District High School Committee; Dr Upham and Mr F. Hobbs, town clerk, visited the Lyttelton gaol site yesterday for the purpose of making a survey and siiomltting a report to the Education Board regarding the best way to utilise the ground. The AA'est Lyttelton School was also visited. Mr J. Page, chairman pf the West Lyttelton School Committee, and the secretary, Mr J Holst, were present. Mr Page pointed out the necessity of enlarging one of the class rooms, and drew attention to minor repairs which were needed.
