Amsterdam and London. WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. (Special to the “ Star.”) WELLINGTON, January 17. Keen competition is being evidenced at to-day’s wool sales. New Zealand mills being particularly free buyers. Messrs Levin and Co's and Messrs Murray Roberts's catalogues were cleared before lunch. Prices are fully up to the Napier level and conditions are favouring sellers. (Per Prtss Association.) WELLINGTON, January 17. At the wool sales competition was highly animated from all buying quarters. All crossbreds show, on average grades, an advance of one penny to twopence on the December rates. This is equal to, or slightly better than, the Napier prices. Merino and halfbred were equally competed for by a' local mill. Crossbred bellies and pieces realised from 8d to 30d. Halfbred pieces sold up to 17d. Merino, from Marlborough, made what is believed to be the record price for New Zealand of 29d. Lambs were very strong, showing 2d advance on December rates.
