RENEWED ACTIVITY.

Renewed activity among the Rebels in the vicinity of Dublin is causing widespread alarm. The outbreaks are attributed to the rupture in the peace negotiations, owing to the Government’s refusal to recognise De Valera as head of the Republican Government. DESTRUCTION OF HOUSES. Others burned Senator Sir John Keane’s home at Cappoquin on Sunday. SINN FEIN GIRL SPIES. j (Received January 15, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, January 14. The Limerick correspondent of the “Daily Express” says : “ Rebels have formed a kind of Sinn Fein Girl , Guide movement, which lias attracted j hundreds of romantically inclined 1 girls, whose heads have been turnad ; in the belief that they are saving their | country. These scouts are immensely j valuable to the Rebels. They coquette with Free State soldiers, learn as much as they can, and report to the Rebels. • Sweethearts also carry food and ammunition to men who burn and pillage unprotected towns. the girls will never be detected till the Free State employs women searchers, all women now being immune from search.
