Following a statement that Jugoslavia had sought io purchase rifles from the United States Government, a White House spokesman declared that America will not sell arms to any European Power or other Government or person. This refusal is described as a protest against military action, insofar as the supplying of arms is concerned. But it was made clear that the Government would not interfere with the purchase ol rifles and munitions from juivate concerns. A recent cable .stated that Greece had approached Jugo SJavia and asked for assistance against the Turks, promising to return a corridor to the sea.
