INCREASE REFUSED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. WASHINGTON, January 12. Fgnoring pleas from the army heads for an increased army, the House Appropriation Committee has recommended the continuance of the army at its present size, namely, 125,000 men and 12,000 officers. The appropriations will amount approximately to 249.C00.000 dollars for military purposes. The actual strength of the United States army at the end of August, 3921. was 165.252. The estimates for the War Department for 1923 amounted feu 369.902 000 dollars.
