OBITUARY
MR PETER PTTCAITHLY. Mr Peter Pitcaithly. manager at Lyttelton for Messrs Dalgety and Co. for the part twenty years, passed away last evening at his residence. 31, Brittan Terrace, Lyttelton, after a short illness. He contracted pneumonia on Saturday last, and took to his bed that evening. He was a highly respected and esteemed resident of the j>ort, and his death came as a shock to his many friends. Mr Pitcaithly was born at Lyttelton fifty years ago. and was educated at the Lyttelton District High School. He entered the office of Dalgety and Co some thirty years ago. As a youth he was a keen footballer and played for the Lyttelton Club. Until recently he took a. keen interest in all athletic sports. He leaves a widow and four children. Flags were flown at half-mast on the various shipping offices and vessels today as a mark of respect for Mr Pitcaithly.
