FEDERAL SENATE.
LABOUR IMPROVES POSITION. By Telegraph—Press Association-^-Copyright Australian and N.Z. Gable Association. SYDNEY, January 11. The counting for four of the Senate seats is still incomplete, but the indications are that the new Senate will consist of twenty-four anti-Labourites and twelve Labourites. When the dissolution was granted, the Senate consisted of thirty-four Nationalists and two Labourites. Of the nineteen retiring Senators, eighteen were Nationalists, and all sought re-election. Twelve of them have so far been defeated, and only two elected.
