THE FIRST DAY'S WORK. (Per Pr;:sk Association.) WELLINGTON. January 11. The conference of Australian and « New Zealand pharmacists commenced this morning. The New Zealand rei tnifcs were held over until to-morrow, j and the conference this morning was restricted to the discussion of matters before the Australasian Conference. J The president, Mr Bailey. in his j opening address, said that it was necesj sary that Australia and New Zealand ! should foster close relations. Co-oper--1 at ion was very necessary in regard to ■ defence, and the Pharmaceutical Society must organise a scheme of training j to meet emergencies. With this in view f ho submitted thut apprentices on the j per capita basis should ho specially j trained to take charge of their branch | in the army services. It was decided to levy annual subscriptions on a membership basis instead of on a fiat rate, as follows: £1 for under .100, £2 for under 2<X). £3 for under 300. £5 for 500 and over. A committee v.as set up to draw up a list of possible and desirable subjects for research, and draw up some scheme to encourage students to make research in subjects chosen.
