CHILDREN’S PARTY.

The annual children's patty given by the members of the Canterbury AVomen's Club was held in the Jelliooe Hall last evening. There was a very large attendance of children, in plain and fancy dress, accompanied by their mothers. On arrival. they passed through the hall, to spend a happy hour in play on the lawn to the rear of the building. A splendid tea was set in the main hall, which was gaily decorated w ith streamers in shades of trim son. gold, mauve, navy blue and green. Pretty bowls of pink and crimson roses, sweet peas, larkspur and Canterbury bells ornamented the tables, which v ere heavily laden with many good things to eat. including plates of delicious strawberries and cream, to which tbe happy children did full justice. Airs Holland, president of the club, who received the little guests, wore a handsome gown of tete-de-iiigre satin with sleeves and painted panels ol lace.
