HARBOUR BOARD.

TO-DAY’S MEETING. Jhe Lyttelton Harbour Board met to* day; present —Messrs J. Storry (chairman). M’AJpine. R. Macartney, F. Horrell, W- J. Walter, T. A. Blackley and It- Galbraith. Hon R. Mo-.re, M.L.C., Captain H. Monro, and Dr H. T. J. Thacker. I’he by law abolishing the harbour improvement rate as from January 1, 19-23, It was reported that a sum of .€2IOO had been invested at par in the Ranciora County Council's 5§ per cent electrical reticulation loan, maturing- on November 14. 1932, on behalf of the sinking fund. A farther sum of €l*2oo had been (similarly invested on behalf of the special renewal fund. The treasurer reported that since the previous meeting and up to November 30, receipts hail totalled €7061. as compared with €9932 for the corresponding period of last year. In addition to the ordinary receipts. there were special receipts from the sale of €150.000 loan debentures during the month, amounting to £1350 and €651 lie refunds from the marine innsurance fund on account of the tug Lyttelton and dredge launch, making the total receipts €9682 11s lod for the month of November. The bank book showed • harbour fund to be in credit 2343 1.7 s 9d. and the unpaid accounts to l>e pased for payment amounted to £1970 16s, the payment of which will leave the account in credit, £373 Is 9d. The receipts for the hire of the new cranes indicated that they are being made use of freely.. The engineer reported that the dredge Canterbury had been engaged in the outer channel and in the open parts of the inner harbour, whence she had lifted and pumped into the reclamation area, the following quantities:—From the outer obaunel. 60.786 ton*; from the inner harbour, 17,378 tons The gtab dredge Tewliaka had lifted and deposited at sea. a quantity of 1120 tons, from No. 2 E, No. 3 E, No. 5 E, No. 7 E. and between No. 6 and 7 jetties. A covercd-in store for spare gear had been erected near the dock store. Files were being prepared for the Gladstone pier. The pile driving punt C.TLD. had been slipped for cleaning and tarring. The two cranes on No. 2 jetty were complete and ready for testing. The work of raising the mole to the required new level had been continued.
