PIONEERS’ DAY PROPOSED.

The new uraier -spray at the Cashel ‘ Street Bridge is in full working order and the alternating bine and red flames on the falling spray and rising steam present a tine spectacle. Anniversary Day has been selected by the executive for a special programme. It is intended to offer an invitation to those of the pioneers of Canterbury who cati avail themselves ol it to visit the Exhibition. Arrange ments will he made for their transport and entertainment and the whole day will be devoted to showing them the progress made by the province since the First Four Ships landed the Pilgrim Fathers at Lyttelton. The committee has numerous scheme® in hand tor the making of Pioneers’ Day ” an exceptional one in the history of the Exhibition. ENTEK.TAIKMENTS. On TTednesday it has been arranged foi the Kaiapoi Male Voice Choir to ; give concerts, and items will be contributed by Messrs March. Malcolm, f». Hirst, A. Hirst, Baker, Thorpe and Wylie. Last night Miss MacDonald's pupils provided a well received programme of dancing and singing. JOTTINGS. A noticeable feature is that all the doorkeepers are drawn from the ranks of returned soldiers. The model farm seems very popular vrith tho male visitors but cookery demonstrations hold pride of place with the gentler sex. whilst nothing seems able to shake th© youngsters 5 allegiance to th© candy stalls. On© never sees the tea. room empty. The Maori carvings come in for a great deal of attention, S 3 do the Relumed Soldiers’ exhibits. The Forestry Department seems to hold a great attraction for town and country people alike. RADIO CONCERT. A very successful concert was given in tli© radio hall last night through the medium of wireless. The transmitting station was at St Albans, where Miss Spencer, Madame Holgate and Mr T. Wallace were soloists. These singers were heard in the Radio Hall at the Exhibition very clearly and the iljems viewe applauded. The accompanist was Madame FTolgate. The wireless concerts are proving a great attraction at the Exhibition nightly.
