! j Mr P. C. Macass ey is at present in Christchurch and is staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr IT. D. Kinney, of New York, arrived from the south on Saturday night. He is staying at Warner’s Hotel. Mr AY. 3. Alexander has been appointed Stipendiary Magistrate, sheriff and a member of the Licensing Com in it. tee, for the Chatham islands, in succession to Ur G. S. Clayton. S.M. Miss Kate Leonard. AI.A., and Mr J. G. Brown, 8.A., both of whom are graduates ol : Canterbury College, have been appointed to the staff of the Wairarapa High School. Dr L. B. Burnett, who has been one of the medical practitioners in Rangiora for many years, and who also did pro fessional service at the war, is leaving shortly for Oxford, where he will continue practice. Dr King, of the Christchurch Hospital staff, is taking over his Raugiora practice.
