THE EXHIBITION.

TO-DAY’S VISITORS. There was a good attendance at the Exhibition to-day, m spite of the rain The most notable visitors were girls from St Michael’s and St Margaret’.. Schools, Some alarm was felt by exhibitors when rain poured down on the building lor about an hour from 10 o’clock. On the. whole, the Exhibition came out of ! the weather very well. Only a few | exhibits wore affected by the rain, and ous damage. The meat companies, a book exhibit, and a honey exhibit seemed to get the brunt of it in the main building. In the annexe, a good deal of inconvenience was caused for an hour or so by the grating in the street channel becoming blocked. The surface water consequently, overflowed and covered the footway on the north side of the annexe to a depth of a few inches As soon ns the grating was found ic was cleared, and the water got away. A few loads of tan soon mad > 'the place dry and comfortable again Tlie large woollen, drapery and hosiery displays were untouched. Sir Joseph "Ward visited the Exhibition yesterday. lie said that he ,wu« surprised at the quality and range oi goods now made in New Zealand. An exhibit from the Cook Island-,, including fruit, vegetables and oth-er produce, is expected in a few days. Some of the Maori exhibits in the vestibule have been re-arranged, ir order to give valuable mats, kilts and ancient specimens of carving better positions.
