HOSPITAL PATIENTS’ VOTES.

NO SPECIAL PROVISION. No special provision has been made for recording the votes of patients in hospitals in connection with the general election next Thursday and those patients in the Christchurch Hospital who are unablo to leave their beds will be disfranchised. At the last election special provision was made in the form of a polling booth at the Christchurch Hospital, for soldier patients to record there votes hut at this election patients who aro enrolled and desire to record their votes will be under the necessity of voting at the ordinary polling booths. In the case of patients at the Christchurch Hospital it will Ik? possible for electors to vote at St Andrews’ Schoolroom. Those | atients who are not electors of Christchurch South will however. require to procure absent voters’ permits by applying to the officer in c harge of the Central Electoral Bureau, New Government Department Buildings. Worcester street, Christchurch. No time should be lost in making application for these permits, as the officer in charge of the Central Electoral Bureau has to communicate with tho Registrar of Electors of the district on the roll of which the applicant’s name appears. As polling day is next Thursday, there is not too much time for the permits to ho issued and to reach the electors in time for them to exercise them. In the case of bed-ridden patients, as the lav makes no provision for a travelling ballot-box. they will. of necessity, be disfranchised. The inmates of the Consumption Sanatoria on Cashmere Hills will he under the necessity, in the case of those able to leave the institutions, to record their votes at Rack wood’s store at the foot of Cashmere Hills.
