FACING EUROPEANS IN ASIA. M hile Angora is attempting on one hand to engage in new activities which j will tend u> raise its prestige before the peoples ol the world and deal a final and decisive blow to the Enverist movement (reports the Smyrna correspondent of the ‘Christian Science Monitor ”), on the other hand it is carrying on without cease its intense propaganda in Mohammedan countries j with the apparent view of bringing about the realisation of the Islamic union. The KemaJist efforts exerted in Persia appear to have reached the desired goal. The Anatolian Turkish papers intimate that the Persian Government is exerting strenuous efforts to establish a new Government on the very model : of that of Angora. For this reason tho j 1 Persian Minister at Constantinople has been delegated to visit Moscow and discuss the matter at length with the Soviet and draft in advance a tentative agreement. Persia has opened conversations with Afghanistan, and negotiations with the Caucasian communist states already have been opened. When all of these negotiations are concluded there will have been constituted a mighty Islamic block consisting of Turkey, Persia, Afghanistan, Daghistan, Bokhara, Khiva, and Turkestan, representing more than 20.000,000 people! In the event of the success of this project the civilised world surely will ! 1 he confronted with a catastrophe.
