SHOPKEEPERS FINED

Cigarettes have become so great a necessity to some members of the community that Sunday cannot be enjoyed ■without them. Tf’throu gh an oversight a' supply lias not been, obtained on Saturday evening, some accommodating shop-keepers have been in- the habit of offering them for sale on Sundays. As a result of this practice, a number of storekepers were charged at thi' Magistrate's Court this morning before Mr Wyvern Wilson. S.M., with trading in cigarettes on Sunday, October 15.

The following storekeepers were lined 20s and costs: -Elizabeth Barton. Elsie Chappell, Reginald -John Evans, John Foster, Ernest Rowe, and William Taylor.
