RESOLUTION BY DUNEDIN SYNOD. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, November 9. The prohibition question has been occupying the attention of the Anglican Diocesan Synod for two days. A position of finality was reached to-day. Mr K. F. Whito.ombe moved :—“ That this Synod desires churchpeople to rote in favour of pioliibitiou.” The Rev Hoani Parata moved an amendment—“ That this Synod, while emphasising the principles of temperance, deprecates attempts to identify til© Church with any partisan opinion, or to ally it with any political party.” Mr Parata’s amendment was put and carried. Mr L. D. Ritchie moved a further amendment—“ That, this Synod, recognising the great evils arising from 'th* abuse of spirituous liquors, considers it the boundon duty of every churchman either to vote national prohibition or to actively pursue other steps calculated to effectively reduce or remove the evds in question.” Mr Ritchie's amendment was lost by a substantial majority, and the Rev H. 1* a rate’s motion was carried by about v* similar majority.
