DOPING ALLEGED.
INQUIRY AT GISBORNE. (Per. Press Association.) GISBORNE. October 28. After the Matawhero Handicap the stewards held an inquiry into the condition of Persian King, which fell miserably short of expectations and finished last, badly distressed. An examination led to the conclusion that the horse had been doped. Evidence was given that three men had been seen early in the morning in tlie neighbourhood of the horse’s stall. The matter has been placed in the hands of the police.
