LOSS OF UNION FUNDS.
THEFT CHARGE AGAINST SECRETARY. (Pi:r Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 26. J. G. Bruce, formerly secretary of the Wellington Waterside Workers’ Union, was arrested by Senior-Deteetivfe Lewis and Detective Tiicklebank in connectioon with alleged theft of union funds. Tile amount involved in the charge is about £BSO. Accused was brought before the Court. The police ai>piied for a remand. Mr H. F. O’Leary, for accused, applied for bail. Fie said the charge had been hanging over accused’s head for some time but Bruce bad made no attempt to leave tho Dominion. Bail was granted accused in £2OO and two sureties of £IOO each.
