Tlie Rev F. Rule returned by the express last evening from Dunedin. Air D. Sykes, of Spreydon, lias left for Dunedin to attend the BaptistUnion Conference. Air T. W. Attwood, president of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Association, is at present sviiting Nelson. Air H. C. Harley has been appointed to represent the Greymouth branch ol the Canterbury Automobile Association on the council of the association in place of Mr F- D Sargent. A New York message states that William Hart, the moving picture actor whose illness from typhoid complica tions was announced on Alonday, has been pronounced out of danger. Mr R. H. Moth von. 8.A., Temuka, has received an appointment to the staff of tbe Hamilton High School. Ho will take ui> his new duties earlv in November. 'Plie Rev R. AT. Owing to indifferent health. Air A M’Clure, who has been Town Clerk at Ashburton for about eleven years, has decided to resign bis position. Air M’Clure has held the office of Town Clerk with credit, and has discharged his duties with the utmost courtesy, earning for himself the high respect oi the entire community. A London cablegram records the death of Isaac. Guggenheim, capitalist. He was born in Philadelphia in 1854. He was a director of the Mexican Union Railway, Amalgamated Smelting and Refining Company. Amalgamated Smelters' Securities Company and the Yukon Gold Company, and a member of the firm of Guggenheim Bros. The combined overseas and coastal shipping companies have expressed to Air E.
