September 25. It is reported that thirty-nine Tr regular prisoners escajied from tin County Gaol at Cork by tunnelling t( a disused ventilator shaft. Fro.r there they reached a manhole in th< roarl outside. Two only were recap wired. A Dublin official message states tliai a party of rebels ambushed Genera. O’Duffy who was motoring at Naas accompanied by other high officers The attackers opened heavy revolve] fire and then retreated. Genera o’Duffy and his party were unhurt.
