ARMENIANS RESPONSIBLEINVESTIGATIONS BY FRENCH AUTHORITIES. Beuter's Telegrams. CONSTANTINOPLE. September 24. Investigations by the French au thoritiea regarding the Smyrna fir a show that there is no ground for refugees’ statements that the Turks sprinkled streets and h outsets with petrol. On the contrary, before the fire Armenians are alleged to have thrown bombs from houses and otherka wise acted hostilely which, it is sinisterly stated, caused repressive measures, of which the Armenians* were the principal victims. The War Office states that the report from Constantinople stating that Greek soldiers embarked on two steamers at Rodosto for C’hanak to support the British is untrue. General Harington has not been reinforced by 4 Greek troops nor has any authority been issued for such assistance.
