LATE MRS ALEX WEBSTER.
The death of Mrs A. Webster, which occurred at her residence, Leestou, on Friday, leaves another gap in the ranks of Canterbury’s early pioneers. The late Mrs Webster was the wife of Mr Alexander Webster, county engineer. She was noted for her kindness of heart, her cheerful willingness to relieve distress- The deceased lady was a staunch member of St David’s Presbyterian Church, Lees ton. Mrs Webster had been in ill-health for some months and her end was not unexpected. She was a daughter or the late Robert Melcolm, formerly of Scotland, and sister of Mr Robert Malcolm. She leaves two sons, Mr Arthur Webster and Mr J. A. Webster, of Wellington, and two daughters, Mrs Wheatley, of Wellington, and Mrs S. J. Irwin, of Ashburton. The funeral* which took place on Sunday, was a large and representative one. The Rev E. W. Walker, minister of St David’s Presbyterian Church, Leeston. the burial service at the graveside. The pall-bearers were the employees of the Ellesmere County Council.
