CHARGES AGAINST A MINISTER. (Per Press TTMARU. August 21. The Rev P. Gladston Hughes. Minister of Chalmers Presbyterian Church, received a letter signed by six members of the congregation, which declared that he (1) preached unseriptural and dangerous doctrine; (2> prophesied smooth things and made sin appear :=x>mething less enormous than it was : v 3) did not preach the Gospel. Mr Hughes announced from the pulpit yesterday the reception of the letter and called a meeting of the Church Session for to-night to consider the matter, stating that if the charge was true he should not he there. The meeting of the session was notopen to the press. The result was that the session unanimously decided that the charges were groundless and in a most emphatic manner repudiate! them. The writer of the letter stated that he did not desire to lay the charge-* before the authorities of the Church.
