The question ha* been raised lately as to who is tho oldest surviving person born in New Zealand, states the Auckland “ Star 3 ’ of Tuesday, and one person suggests that lie might be tho perYesterday quite by accident four old men met just outside the City Markets and the question of age* cropped up. and it was found that while all of them had been born not later than 1843, two of them had been born before Juno of that rear. One on March 22 and the other in May the date he could not actually tell, because for years lie used to celebrate his birthday oil the same day as the Queen’s birthday, and it been me such a habit with him that lie forgot the actual date of his own birth. The old men agreed that there must be a number of New Zealand born men and women who are fully 80 yet&s of age, because there were so many large and healthy families in the good old days. They lived hard, they worked hard, and they went early to bed, and this fact alone tliev thought tended to longevity.
