CANTERBURY ASSOC! ATSON NINTH ROUND. The ninth round of matches was played to-day. TEGHM SCAL V. SELWYN, The m a tell between -Selwyn and Technical was played at. Lancaster Park. Selwyn opened the frame with a series of .attacks, and two good shots by Squire were fielded and saved by Smith. Selwyn made repeated onslaughts on the Technical goal. but. good defence by Morris a.nd Smith kept, the goal clear. Technical made a brief rally, but were sent back by Kore. who sent a pass up to Squire. The latter took the ball well down and centred neatly to IT. Bell, who netted with a lightning shot. Selwyn 1, Technical o. Selwyn came again and a neat combined rush ended in W. Bell scoring easily. Selwyn 2. Technical 0 Pearce and Edgiugton were prominent in n- Technical rally, which was stopped by Grose. W. Richmond and S. Bell put in a good run which enabled the latter to score a third goal for Selwyn. Selwyn 8. Technical 0. Technical rallied and Steerp sent in a. shot, hut gave “ sticks.” the free hit giving relief to Selwyn. Technical returned and the Selwyn goalkeeper was forced to concede a corner. Selwyn again attacked very solidly until half time, when the score was:— SELWYN 3, TECHNIC AT, 0. Selwyn opened the second spell, and carried play into Technical’s circle, but Morris saved. Selwyn secured at half way, and a. combined rush ended in H. Bell securing possession and beating the Technical goalie easily. Selwyn 1. Technical O. Selwyn kepi Technical on the defence for some time, but Morris and Pearce pu up a. good defence. Selwyn came again, and Richmond accepted a pass from Morris and shot, from the edge of the circle. The Technical goal keeper attempted to kick and missed the easiest of saves, and the ball trickled into the net. Selwyn 5, Technical 0. Turner intercepted a Selwyn attack. and returned play to midfield. A pass across to M'Cre.cken saw the Selwyn goal in danger, but a twentv-five was the only "result. From the bully Selwyn gained nossession one o more, and Technical were forced. Technical cfAne again. _ and M’Oracke-n and Crocker were prominent in a. scramble that ended in Crocker notching Technical’s first goal. The final SELWYN .... FIVE TECHNICAL .... ONE. Referee: Mr S. G. Holland Y.M.A.C. V SYDENHAM These teams met at Hagley Park, and an interesting game resulted in Y.M.C.A. winning by three goals to two. Sydenham turned out one short. Hard hitting by Skelton and Gay confined play to Y.M.C.A.’s twenty-five for sonic time. A shot from Mather resulted in a corner. Y.M.C.A.’s vanguard transferred play to the other end, where Snooks saved at the expense of a corner. A ecramble ensued in Sydenham’s circle. and Hill finally pushed the ball into the net. Y.M.C.A. 1. Sydenham 0. A solid Sydenham attack ended in Mather finding the net with a good shot. Y.M.C.A. 1, Sydenham 1. Pascoe put the Sydenham forwards going, and Mather sent in an excellent shot, which Drayton stopped well. In Sydenham’.; circle Snooks saved three shots. A combined movement by Holland and Farrell was spoiled by Skelton. At half-time the score was:— Sydenham 1. Y.M.C.A. 1. Y.M.C.A. opened with a rush, but Hilt shot over the bar. Faulkner was prominent with a tricky run i’or Y.M.C.A.. and he passed to Hill, who beat Snooks. Y.M.C.A. 2, Sydenham 1. The Sydenham forwards set up an attack, and Sheriffs equalised the scores. Y.M.C.A. 2, Sydenham 2. Keeping up the pressure. lord scored for Y.M.C.A. Y.M.C.A. 3. Sydenham 2. Sheriffs and Mather broke away for Sydenham, but Smith relieved, and sent Ford away on the left. Play was in midfield when the whistle sounded, with the scores:— Y.M.C.A THREE SYDENHAM .... TWO Mr C. Bellamy was referee. JUNIOR GAMES. SECOND GRADE. Technical 6 (Teague 4. THIRD GRADE. Christchurch A 3 (Snelling, Hartigan and Bearne) defeated Y.M.C.A. 0. Referee: Mr J. H. Janes. Selwyn defeated Christchurch B by default. FOURTH GRADE. Technical A 5 (Pearcy 2, Fuller 1, Archer 2) defeated Technical B 1 (M’Clymont). Mr J, M’Cracken was referee. Sydeijbum 2, scored by Woods and Ruhbridge. defeated West Christchurch 0. Referee, Mr H.
