Marists were half a point ahead of Linwood in the compel iV‘ tion, and the result of the senior ehara- •: pionship' depended on the game. Just after M’Cormack attempted to pot a goal but the ball did not rise much and Brown again forced. Marists at this stage seem_ r ea to have the game in their hands and they attacked persistently. From a scrum near the goal lino Kirwan tried to work & the blind 6ide but the pass was a faulty one and M’Donald missed it. From scrambling play neat- the goal line Kirwan sent his backs going but Fitzgerald was collared before he could pass to Mullins who was on the wing in a good position. Another passing rush by the Marists* backs again broke down at Fitzgerald and play settled down about half way. Good work by Anderson had Linwood on the defensive again. A scrum was formed several yards from the goal line and Kirwan. working the blind side, passed to Mullins, who beat more than one man in good ptyle and scored on tlie corner. Anderson’s kick went very wide. Marists 1.". Linwood .8. At this stage Brown, the Linwood full back, had to retire owing to injuries and Coe took his place. Linwood rushed play to the goal line Marists were defending but Frame was too slow in seizing an opportunity to score. From a line out Burson took a mark but his pot at goal failed.
