THE RICCARTON CLUB BALL

Despite the showers of rain, on Thursday night, the Riccarton Town Hall was well filled with patrons of the Riccarton Club’s annual ball. The function proved to be an overwhelming success and all the daneerß seemed to enjoy themselves to the utmost. The hall was artistically decorated. Overhead was suspended a maze of blue and pink ribbons with numerous bunches of many coloured and varied balloons. The orchestral stage was resplendent with festoons and pot plants, while garlands and streamers of artistic and novel designs mad© the hall look a veritable fairyland. For the last danoe streamers were loosened and eagerly grasped by the dancers, and soon eveo’one was dancing in a maze of ribbons, while confetti was distributed and everyone was liberally sprinkled with their share Aliss M Douald’s or-

cheetra was in attendance. The chaperones were Alesdames IT. Owen, J. C. Graham and P. C. Jones. The committee responsible for these excellent arrangements were Alisses I. Jones, who wore canary yellow crepe de chine ; L. Graham, in pale blue crepe de chine with an overdress of palo blue tinsel; D. Musgrave. who wore emerald green satin; E.
