ROYAL MUSICAL SOCIETY.
PERFORMANCE OF “ FAUST.” The performance of “ Faust '* by the Royal Musical Society, will be given on May 27 at the King Edward Barracks. Miss Gwendolen Spanswick, the brilliant lyric soprano from Sydney, will make her first appearance in Christchurch and will take the role of Margarita. Miss Millicent Jennings (mezzo) will take the part of Sybil. Mr Hubert Carter (Faust) is a very fine operatic tenor and makes his first appearance with the musical society. Air Reg Vincent will take the role of Valentine and Mr Charles Clarkson, as Mephisrtopheles, completes the cast. The society’s full band and chorus of 250 performers will be under the conductorship of Air Sydney Butler. A limited number of excellent seats can be reserved at The Bristol, and day sale unreserved tickets at 2s can be obtained at the Toy Gave on Alonday.
