In the City Council’s advertisement regarding tho matter occurs the announcement:—1 bis will not apply to players or spectators taking part in the other pastimes being played there on that date. Inquiries made at the Town Clerk’s office to-day elicited the information that the charge lor admission had been authorised by the chairman of the Reserves Committee (Councillor E. H Andrews). It was aLso stated, that the League match would be roped off. and tho League authorities had asked leave to charge at only one gate, that loading to the match from Brougham Street. T'he City Council has power to authorise a. charge for admission to Sydenham Park on twenty days of the year, but up till now such permission Ims been granted only in special circumstances—notably in the case of the New Zealand ladies’ hoc-key tournament —but tlie full number of days has never been reached. The Reserves Committee, it is understood, considers each case on its merits.
