METROPOLITAN MARKET. TO-DAY’S SALE, The yarding of fat lambs at the Metropolitan! weekly market at Addington today was a small one. There were not many good quality lambs forward and they sold on a par with last week’s rates. The entry of fat cattle was again a large one and generally prices Avere little better than a-t the previous sale, though some prime steers brought good prices. Good store ewes were in demand hut store lambs were cheaper all round. STORE SHEEP. The entry of store sheep was again a fairly large cne. Good ewes met with keen competition but aged and inferior OAves hardly Fold as well as last week. Lambs were cheaper all round and Avetherß AA'ere hardly up to the figures ruling at the previous sale. FAT CATTLE. The yarding of fat cattle was again a large one. There were some lines of good steers forward hut a fair proportion of the entry consisted of small and inferior steers and cows. Bidding was not particularly brisk and at the start prices were about, the same as those ruling last A line of very prime steers from Mr W. A. Strange (Tinwald) made from £ls to £l3 ss. (Three made the top price, two £l7 7s 6d. two £l7 ss, three £l7 and two £ls. The following sales were made: On account of Norman Rutherford (Mendip Hills), 6 steers at £5 2s 6d to £5 15s, P heifers at £3 15s to £4 12s 6d, 3 cows at £3 2s 6d to £4 15s; P. J. L. Palmer (Annat), 2 cows at £2 15s to £3 7s 6d, steer at £3 2s 6d ; F. Merriu. jun. (East Evreton). 2 cows at £1 12s Sd to £5 17s 6d; clients. 10 sows at £-2 15s to £3 2s 6d, steer at £5 7s 6d, 6 heifers at £5 2s 6d to £6 2s 6d. 32 steers at £5 17s 6d to £9; R. and J. Little (Seaview), lo steers at £lO 2s 6d to £ll 10s; J. Little (Cannobielea), 2 cows at £6 5s to £9 7s 6d; clients. 8 steers at £6 5s to £7 10s, 4 heifers at, £4 ss, 6 cows at £4 5s to £5. steer at £9. FAT LAMBS. The yarding of fat lambs totalled 4963 head, compared Avith 5450 at the previous sale. The qualify generally was indifferent. very few good lambs being forward. Good quality lambs sold on a par with late rates, but medium and indifferent stuff was inclined to be easier. Values were:— Extra prime lambs 25s to 30s. Prime lambs 21s 9d to 24s 6d. Medium lambs 19s 3d to 21s 6d. Light and unfinished lambs 15s 6d to 19s. FAT SHEEP. The entry of fat sheep filled eleven races, compared with fourteen last. week. The market opened briskly, and at the start last week’s values were fully maintained.
