AQUATIC.

UNION ROWING CLUB. During tlie past week the Union Rowing Club has been rowing off the races for the “ Watson’s No. 30 ” Cup. this being the first occasion that this trophy has been competed for. Six crews were entered, and the following is the result of the racing:—First heat: L. C. Byers, VT. I Whittington, O. Duggan and C. 11. V? atsou defeated T. H. Grenfell, 0. Moulin, A. ! Beardsley and F. Foster. This was one of the best races seen on the river for some time past, the boats being side by side until quite near the finish. Second heat: A. Freeman, P. Cairns, J. M. Bell and F. Booth, jun., defeated C. Grenfell, W. Duggan, A. Stableford and T. Chisholm. Won by two lengths. Third heat: R. Mann. C. Yates, N. Moulin and G. Harwood beat S. F. Taylor. N. C. Harvey. G Logan and F. Beaby. Mann had established a lead at Cowlishaw's Corner, which lie maintained throughout, winning comfortably. Semi-final : Freeman defeated Byers. This was a splendid race all the way. but Freeman lasted better and won by half a length. The final between Freeman and Mann attracted a large gathering of spectators. The crews raced on even terms to just bolow Staymore Bridge, where Freeman , got ;n front, and finally won by half a length.
