NEWS OF THE SCULLING RACE. QUICK DISPATCH ENSURE. Within half a minute of the result of the sculling race being handed in at Wanganui the “ Star ” had the result in its Cathedral Square office, and within another minute the result was being printed in the “ Star.’* The bare result, Hadhold ten lengths,” reached Christchurch at 4.2 p.m. It came by direct wire from Wanganui, through repeaters at Nelson. Within a minute the result had reached every South Island office, including Tnvercargill. Mr H. T. Bennett, superintendent of telegraphs at Christchurch, received the result at Christchurch, and it was his arrangements that ensured its prompt delivery to the “ Star.”
