HALKETT BENEDICTS’ BALL

* Tho benedicts o* Ilalkett gave a successful piain and fancy dress ball in the schoolroom, which was prettily decorated with flowers, vari-coloured streamers and Chinese lanterns. The grand march was led by Mr and Mrs i). Wilson, about eighty couples taking part. Tho music was supplied by Withers’s Band. Mr J. P. Henderson made an efficient M.C. and secretary. An excellent supper was presided over by the ladies of the committee, Mesdameu W. F. Turner, G. Hayes, J. Thompson, W. Walker, J. D. Henderson, D. Wilson, R. Roper and A. Thomson. The prizes for the beat fancy dresses were awarded to Miss Jessie Thompson (Post Office) and Mr R. Roper (Father Christmas). Among the fancy dresses were the following Mesdames G. Davis. Grannie; D.
