The American Legion Convention in Kansas City gave Marshal Foch a thrilling reception- In the course of a speech Marshal Foch said;— “ The greatest honour of my life was leading the American army along the road to victory in 1918. More than. 25,000 of your brothers are buried in Franco. Your French brothers in arms will watch over them and give glory to you who survive them.” General Pershing declared :—“ The hope of the future lies in the coming Washington Conference. The nations have become impovorised by enormous loss of life and material wealth. The problems must be courageously faced. A wise solution demauds tho same loyalty and patriotism and imposes the same obligations that brought about victory in war.”
