LOCAL AND GENERAL.
Tlie annual festival of the Christchurch Anglican Cathedral was celebrated yesterday, All’Saints Day. Communion services were held at 7.15 a.m. and 10 a.m., and perpetual intercession was kept up from 9 a.m. to o p.m. At the evening service there was a good attendance of parochial clergy, and the sermon was preached by the Very Rev' Walter Harper, in the absence of Bishop Julius. Though the Rugby season just over included many interesting matches, the balance-sheet shows that expenditure totalled £ll9O, being greater than the receipts by £248. This is accounted for by the fact that £3ll has been written off the new training ground. Other items of expenditure were:—Representative team’s tour £307, insurance £64, Show Ground rent £55, salary and stationery £97. Receipts included Moascar, Cup match £SO, South Canterbury match £93, club matches £577, Otago match £157, and Southland match £37. The union’s assets exceed liabilities by £l4lß. They include £221 cash in hand ; £953, ground trust fund account ; and £IOO, value of training ground. At last evening’s meeting of the union, Mr S. F. Wilson said that financially they had gone back, but it had been an extraordinary season. The union gave away live Saturdays, and then there was the training ground expense, which would not recur, and the purchase of three shields. The value of the training ground depended on the use the clubs made of it. We produce portraiture that pleases because of its naturalness- Our prices are moderate, too.
