Demonstrations in the use of the new Alula aeroplane wing, the invention of Holle, a Dutchman, which is depigned to give* great lifting power, proved successful. It was fitted to a Mariineyde machine with a Hispan o-Suiz u engine of 200 h.p. Tin machine ascended at a sharp angle and reached an altitude of 3000 feet in seventy-two seconds. The maximum speed was 180 miles per hour. The wing is made entirely of mahogany. pi. has no struts and is shaped Fiirdhi.v leo v seagull’s wing.
