MEETING OP EXECUTIVE. * The executive oi the Canterbury Industrial Association met on Tuesday, Mr W. J. Jenkin (president) in the chair. Tho secretary of the Wellington Industrial Association 'Wrote stating that it had been definitely decided that there would bo no advertising at the industrial exhibition in Wellington. The special aim of the exhibition was to show what was being manufactured in New Zealand irrespective of who manufactured it. Tlie association did not want Ministers or Members of Parliament to have an idea that manufacturers were out for individual advertisements, but _ wanted it proved that this country, practically, if not completely, was self-supported and that the Customs Tariff Bill required the earnest and fullest consideration of members of Parliament, in the welfare of the advancement of tho manufacturing interests. Tho letter was received. The Finance Committee reported that on September 27 there was a credit balance of .£lB5 2s lid. The chairman said that there wm a credit balance in the propaganda fund of £53 15s Id. The Propaganda Committee reported that the nuestion of solar salt works had been considered. The committee was not vet in a position to report, having it necessary to communicate with Mr T. M’Arthur and with the secretary of the Industries Department, asking for further information. The report was adopted. It was decided that the annual meeting should bo held or, Novpmher ‘ : 9. Mr Willis said that steps should be taken to increase the interest of members in the association’s affairs. The chairman and Messrs W. Black and IT. B. Best made several proposals in that direction, but it- was decided not to take any steps until after the annual meeting.
