FREEZING AND ALLIED INDUSTRIES.

FIRST ANNUAL BALLThe committee responsible for the first ball given by the staffs of the combined freezing and allied, industries aro to be congratulated on its success. Although everyone who ought to have been there was there, the floor was not overcrowded, space being left to see the many pretty dresses. Some of these* were really exquisite, and many beautiful cloaks were-worn. The chaperones were Lady Clifford. Lady Boys, Mesdamcs F. Deverell, C. H. White, C. C. AI. Ollivier, AY. Alachin N. LAl’Betli, Irving Carney, D. J. Shea and AV. O. Campbell. The members of the committee were Aliases K. Alarshail, A . Morgan, D- AFlnerney and D. Flanagan, and Alessrs A. D. Sandman, AA . SHughes. A. B. Alerrett, H. B. Wright nnd R. R. C. Spooner. A delicious supper was served at the gaily decorated I‘ttle tables, the committee being indefatigable in looking after their guests. Campbell, a beautiful dress of cream brocade, and carrying a fan cf emerald green feathers; Airs Deverell, grey chiffon taffeta with long panel of steel beads, steel passementerie on the corsage; Airs C. Knight, kingfisher-blue satin, with ruches of gold shot net; Airs F. R. Jonos, black flounced net over satin, sequinned front; Airs P. AI. A.lills, canary yellow’ charmeuse. made in long fiou neos ; Aliss D. Jam ieson, f awn georgette with embroidered panels; Aliss R. Grant, pale pink crepe de chine, saxo bluo bows; Aliss N. Bird, very handsome dross of flame net over souple satin; Airs AV. W lute black skirt of flounced taffetas, jazz bodice; Aliss. V. Bray the, tomato-coloured crepe de chine; Aliss Greig, mauve georgette over satin. Several very handsome cloaks were worn, one of claret-coloured satin with lace trimmed sleeves and white fur collar; another of brick-red corduroy velvet, pulled in round the shoulders; yet a third of soft saxe-blue souple satin, made very full.
