FREEZING AND ALLIED INDUSTRIES.

FIRST ANNUAL BALLThe committee responsible for the first ball given by the staffs of the combined freezing and allied, industries aro to be congratulated on its success. Although everyone who ought to have been there was there, the floor was not overcrowded, space being left to see the many pretty dresses. Some of these* were really exquisite, and many beautiful cloaks were-worn. The chaperones were Lady Clifford. Lady Boys, Mesdamcs F. Deverell, C. H. White, C. C. AI. Ollivier, AY. Alachin N. Several very handsome cloaks were worn, one of claret-coloured satin with lace trimmed sleeves and white fur collar; another of brick-red corduroy velvet, pulled in round the shoulders; yet a third of soft saxe-blue souple satin, made very full.
