•• REASONABLE CAUSE ” CLAUSE OPPOSED. (Special to the. “ Star.”) WELLINGTON, September 28. A special petition containing over •1000 signatures is being presented today by Mr 31’Combs, on behalf of tb« Christchurch Social Hygiene Society, asking for the repeal of the clause in the Crimes Act which provides that it is sufficient defence in sexual oases if the accused is able to satisfy the jury that he had reasonable cause to believe or did believe the girl to be sixteen or over.
