HOSPITAL MATRON TO GO ABROAD

MISS MUIR GETS LEAVE OF ABSENCE. Leave of absence was granted -bo-day to Miss Muir, Lady Superintendent of the Christchurch Hospital. A special report before the Hospital Board said:—“An application has been received from Miss Muir to be allowed twelve months’ leave of absence to enable her to visit America to work in. several large hospitals, to gain knowledge and experience in tlie latest methods of hospital administration and the teaching and training of nurses. The committee recommends that tho necessary leave of absence —on full pay —be granted on condition that Miss Muir undertakes to remain in the board’s service for a period, of not less than three years after her return. To carry on the work during her absence, the committee recommends that Miss Houston he appointed as Acting Lady Superintendent of Nurses and Matron of the Hospital.” The report was adopted.
