RED CROSS DEPOT MOVES.

NEW HEADQUARTERS SELECTED. RECORD OF SEVEN YEARS. The removal to-day of tlie Red Cross Society's depot from rooms in Manchester Street, near Worcester Street, _ to tile St John Ambulance rooms in Worcester Street, marks an important episode associated with civilians’ part in tho war. .From the time that the three floors in tho Manchester Street building were occupied for tho first time, in 1915, until some time after tho war, they were the general headquarters of regiments of ladies, whose work for SrVdiors has been unanimously recognised. The work did not end with the war. but it has gradually decreased, and as the ladies find that smaller rooms are required, they have accepted a kind offer of tho St John Ambulance Association of one of the association’s rooms in Worcester Street.

A small partv of ladies to-day are doing fatigue duty in superintending the removal. The new room will be open on Wednesday of each week from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., when members off tho Red Cross Society will attend to sick returned soldiers’ needs in the way of outfits, comforts and other requisites. Tlie now depot will supply comforts to tho Military Sanatorium, Queen Mary’s Hospital at Hanmer, Rannerdale House, Quail Island, and to a few patients in tho Orthopaedic Hospital and the Mental Hospital. The main work from the depot now will be the issuing of outfits to out-patients. In addition, members of the society will visit returned soldiers and look into and advise in cases in which sympathy and help are still needed, as there are many returned soldiers who are married and have children, and whose pensions are inadequate- This branch of tho work now will be developed as much as possible ln order that, as far as the society’s efforts will go, no sick returned soldier shall he in want.
