LAWN TENNIS.

The annual meeting of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association will be held on Tuesday next. Tho annual report states that the inter-olub competitions in both A and B grades were very successful, Opawa winning the A grade competition *and Linwcod the B grade. The ladies’ inter-club competition was won by the New Brighton Club. During the season the following interprovincial matches were played Canterbury v. Wellington (men), won by 11 rubbers to 3; Canterbury v. Wellington (ladies), lost by 9 rubbers to 3; Canterbury v. Otago (combined), won by Canterbury by 280 games to 284. The moat important event during the season was tho visit of the members of the New South Wales team. The visitors played a two days’ match, winning by IS rubbers 283 games to 3 rubbers 24G games. The association is indebted to the United Club for the use of its courts for several matche* played during the season. The annual sohoolß tournament was held on tho Avonside Club’s courts, and lasted three Saturday mornings. There was a very large entry and most of the secondary schools were represented.

The annual Easter tournament was held on the Avonside and Linwood courts. A number of prominent players from different parts of the Dominion took part. The winners of the championship events were as ■follow:—Men's championship singles, Mr P. G. Greenwood; doubles, Messrs "W. Goss and P. G. Greenwood; ladies' championship singles, Mra B. Jones; doubles, Misses M. Curtis and E. Arrowsmith; combined doubles, Miss N. Curtis and Dr P. E. AlliMr R- Browning resigned from the position of secretary and treasurer of the association, and his place was filled by Mr TV\ V. Stevens.
